Week 5 – Taking Practical Steps
Sermon Outline

Introduction
Illustration
My wife, my children and I are in the car going for a drive. My children are continuously asking, “are we there yet?”. Often it goes something like… Toilet stops, food stops, toilet stops, leg stretch stops, swapping seats stops, toilet swaps…
Zach is often disinterested from the start, preferring to keep to himself by reading something, listening to music, or even going to sleep.
Noah will be observing things – taking notice of what’s happening both in the car and outside the car. He’ll often be considerate of others needs in the car willing to prioritise others over himself.

Empowering Leadership (EL) and Need-Oriented Evangelism (NOE) are the two Qaulity Characteristics (QCs) which I often lack to have enthusiasm for especially when it comes to me personally contributing something in these areas for the positive growth of my Church.  I don’t have leadership and evangelism in my “gift mix”, and together with a lack of NCD knowledge, it was little wonder that a while back I ended up concluding there was no point to even thinking about them.  Thankfully, since then, God has shown me ways in which I can contribute to these QCs without “cheating” on my “gift test”!!! Tongue out Through simply living my daily life as a Christian in this broken world & also the heart I have to see my unsaved family and friends know God are two things I can contribute to NOE.  With EL, I am an Effective Structures (ES) Consultant at my Church and although we have an ES Coach who leads our team I am in turn a leader to the people I consult.  They look to me for empowerment as we work together to improve the structure of their specific area.
